Customer Case Study: Jackson Family Wines Drives Sustainability Goals with Wexus Software

Background

In 2016, Jackson Family Wines (JFW) launched a five-year strategic sustainability plan. One of the key components of this plan was to pilot new technologies to increase energy efficiency in growing & producing wine. In short, the company was looking for a technology that could provide them with greater insight into how energy was being used on their vineyards and to quantify savings impact from their sustainability efforts.
 

Project

Under a project sponsored by the California Energy Commission (CEC), Jackson Family Wines collaborated with Wexus Technologies to provide software to track energy & water usage & costs in real-time for irrigation pumps at two of their vineyards in Soledad, CA. With Wexus software, JFW now has the ability to disaggregate energy & water usage down to the day & the hour, and get alerted to pump peak energy consumption via meter hardware installed at their pumps. This allowed their team to see how certain efficiency measures impacted their real cost of irrigation, plus actionable data to make better decisions around pump maintenance, water application & sustainability reporting.

Results


 

To date, Wexus software has identified over 19,200 kWh in energy savings and over $9,000 in cost savings for JFW, and driven 140 kW in power demand reduction through alerts.
